Chi Rho - Alpha Omega
Papal Infallibility
The first Vatican Council during 1869-70 of the Roman Catholic Church declared that the Pope was infallible in all ecumenical matters. This was based on the interpretation of the Gospel According to Matthew 24:16-20, which is known as The Great Commission and tells of Christs commission to the apostles to baptize and teach all that he has commanded them, and also of Christs promise that he will be with them until the end of the world.

It is clear from the Great Commission that Jesus Christ will always be with the Holy Catholic Church and therefore there will always be a Holy Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church seems to interpret this as also meaning that, assuming that their church is THE Holy Catholic Church, whatever ecumenical decisions are made by their Pope cannot be wrong and is therefore infallible. Thus giving themselves a licence to make whatever changes to the Church, its practices and its teachings that they see fit hoping that whatever they do will be the result of divine providence and will therefore always be right.
The necessity to declare the Pope to be infallible has increased in recent centuries owing to the increased numbers of people who are able to read and understand the Bible in their own language and are beginning to question the actions of the Church. This philosophy appears to be an insurance to explain away all the heretical and apostatical changes, additions, subtractions and blatant contradictions of the Roman church.
In truth there will always be Apostles of Jesus Christ (Bishops) baptising and teaching all that he has commanded, and only these people form the true Holy Catholic Church. Therefore any Church or Clergy that does not keep within Christ’s doctrine has left true Holy Catholic Christianity. Therefore the Pope is NOT infallible and such belief is heresy and apostasy to a the true Holy Catholic Church.
